Since 1963 in Conegliano

A hotel that is part of the city's history

Every building holds a memory made of stones, people, and transformations. Hotel Cristallo is not just a landmark for visitors to Conegliano; it is part of the city’s history, intertwined with its life for over a century.

As early as 1918, the building hosted the Comizio Agrario, an ancient institution established to improve the living conditions of rural communities. In an era marked by widespread illiteracy and still archaic farming methods, the Comizio played a crucial role: it promoted scientific research in agronomy and facilitated its practical application among farmers. A place of meeting and progress, bringing knowledge closer to everyday life in the region.

The hotel complex is located in the historic center of Conegliano, along Corso Mazzini, adjacent to the ancient city walls known as the Refosso. Part of the hotel’s perimeter walls is incorporated into these defensive walls, dating back to the 14th century, today protected as a historic monument.

A section of these walls is still visible in the area housing the bar: during the 1965 reconstruction, the remains were integrated into the structure and plastered, becoming part of the dialogue between past and present that characterizes the building.

On the front, positioned perpendicular to the walls, stands an element of great symbolic value: an ancient stone portal, perfectly preserved. It did not belong to the city’s defensive system but served as the entrance to the former convent of the Padri Umiliati of San Polo, an ancient social institution documented as early as 1316, located beyond the Porta San Polo.

The order was suppressed in 1571, but the church continued to exist until 1827, when it was deconsecrated and demolished along with the convent. Today, that portal, now located on the terrace in front of the breakfast room, represents the only material trace preserving the historical memory of the complex.

In 1963, the building began a new chapter as Hotel Cristallo, welcoming travelers, professionals, and families in the heart of Conegliano. For over sixty years, the spirit has remained unchanged: sincere, discreet hospitality, deeply connected to the city and its community.

Over time, the hotel has been renovated and updated while always maintaining its bond with the urban context and its commercial history. This legacy was officially recognized on July 31, 2023, when Hotel Cristallo was included among the Historic Places of Commerce in Veneto.

A recognition that confirms what our guests have always known: staying at Cristallo means sleeping in a place that tells the story of Conegliano’s past, with the comfort of a modern hotel and the value of a tradition that continues to be passed down, day after day.
